SCOR NA BPAISTI COUNTY SEMI FINALS
The County Semi Finals of Scor Na bPaisti for the North of the County took place at the Community Centre, Knocknagoshel on Sunday last where this very popular competition was well attended. It was a very successful evening for the North Kerry Football Board who will be represented at the County Finals in the Gleneagle Hotel Killarney on Sunday March 22nd commencing at 3 30pm in seven out of the nine discplines; Moyvane in Solo Singing, Ballad Group and Set Dancing, St. Senans in Instrumental Music, Ballylongford in Leiriu, Ballydonoghue in Sean Nos Dancing while Knockanure had already qualified for the Quiz. This is certainly a huge achievement and we wish them all well in the County Finals.

The Estuary Print and Trophies, Ballylongford sponsored County Senior Scor Finals took place at Brosna Community Centre on Saturday last February 21st where the North Kerry Football Board were well represented with Beale in Instrumental Music, Ballad Group, Donal Dalton from Asdee took part in the Recitation while Edaein O Connell, St. Senans was in the Solo Singing category. Clubs from all the various District Boards throughout the County took part, North Kerry Football, North Kerry Hurling, East Kerry, Tralee/St. Brendans Board South Kerry with the standard of a very high quality.However despite the high standard of competition our North Kerry Clubs were just pipped for entry to the next round of the competition,

The North Kerry Finals of Scor Na bPaisti which was kindly sponsored by Mary and Liam Hanrahan of the âAll Star Barâ Moyvane took place at the Marian Hall, Moyvane on Sunday February 22nd where once again this very popular competition drew a huge attendance to this popular venue. The standard of competition was of the highest order and well done to all competitors for the wonderful entertainment they provided. It was indeed a very successful evening for North Kerry Scor with 8 Clubs taking part; Beale Ballydonoghue, St. Senans, Duagh, Ballylongford, Asdee, Knocknure and Moyvane and credit all the Clubs Cultural Officers for having their Clubs represented in competition. On hand to present the trophies and medals to winners and runners up was former Kerry and Moyvane star Liam Hanrahan who kindly sponsored the competition. Certainly it was a memorable evening for the Moyvane Club and when the adjudicators made their final delibrations on the night they were crowned North Kerry champions in Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group and Set Dancing . St. Senans were victorious in the Instrumental Music while Ballydonoghue took the Recitation and Sean Nos titles. Ballylongford were winners of the Leiriu with Knockanure taking the Quiz category after a tie break. It was an historic occasion for Scor in North Kerry with the introduction of Sean Nos Dancing and the honour of becoming the first North Kerry Sean Nos winner went to Ballydonoghues Tadhg Barry. To cap a a most successful evening for the Moyvane Club they also won the overall Club of the night which was presented to their Cultural Officer Tara Mulvihill.
The following were the winners on the evening and will now go forward to the County Semi Finals which will be staged in the Community Centre Knocknagoshel on Sunday March 8th commencing at 2pm sharp. Our Quiz winners Knockanure will go directly to the County Finals at the Gleneagle Hotel Killarney commencing at 2pm.

Moyvane on this Sunday February 22nd commencing at 12 noon with the
Quiz followed by the remainder of the programme. It is important to note that
teams taking part in the quiz should be seated by 11 30am. This year also we
will have a new category with the introduction of Sean Nos Dancing. Once again
a great days entertainment of Music, Song, Act and Storytelling is assured. The
participation forms that were sent out to the clubs should be returned not
later than this Wednesday evening so that we will be able to produce a programme

Scór na bPáistÃ
In total 189 children took part in the Lee Strand Scór na bPáistà County Finals in The Tintéan Theatre Ballybunon on Sunday last. The fabulous venue vibrated with the excitement and energy brought by all the participants who all attend Primary school. All the children were a credit to their clubs, parents and mentors and were a joy to watch all day.
Donal Daly Kerry Games Manager presented Coiste Scór Chiarraà with a fabulous Coaching Kit as a prize. This prize was raffled in a confined draw among all the participants on the day. The winner was Alison Moynihan from Kilcummin: This prize will be presented to Scoil Ãtha na mBláth, Killarney during the week when the local GDA Vince Cooper will call to the school and present the prize.
Ãine Nà Shiocháin was an excellent Bean an Tà and ensured the whole day went on without a glitch.
Jackie Walsh Vice Chairman of Scór thanked everyone who was involved during the day. He especially thanked Lee Strand for sponsoring the competition, the Tintéan Theatre for hosting the days activities, the judges, Donal Daly from Kerry Coaching & Games and Coiste Scór Chiarraà especially Anita English our former Runaà who did Trojan work on the day.
Each and every child performed to the best of their ability and the overall show was electric. The competent Judges on the day had the tough job of picking a winner and runner up. The day got off to an early start with the Quiz opening the proceedings and at the end of a titanic battle it was Tuosist who were crowned winners. However there was a tie for second place between Na Gaeil and Kilcummin with the latter taking second spot. It was a special day for the Valentia Club representing the South Kerry Football Board when they scooped the Ballad Group and came second in the Instrumental Music and to add to a memorable occasion for the Club their Scor Officer John Daly accepted the Siobhain Cotter Memorial Shield for the best overall Club on the day. The Figure Dancing went to Glenflesk with Causeway as runners up while the County Champions in Set Dancing went to Kilcummin with Currow claiming second place. In the Novelty Act category it was Na Gaeil Club who came in first place with Fossa in close contention in second. Ballydonoghue were crowned kings of the Instrumental Music with St. Senans claiming second place in the Ballad Group. In the Recitation section Renards Niall McDaid was winner and Cian Sheehan from Firies finished second. SCOR NA BPAISTI COUNTY FINALS
This Sunday April 13th will be a special day for the National School children from around the County who have qualified for the County Finals of Scor Na bPaisti, kindly sponsored by Lee Strand which will be held in the Tintean Theatre Ballybunion. Competitions will be commencing at 2 30pm sharp. Certainly since this popular competition which was first introduced in 2004 at National School level, later to be ran by the Clubs and was the brainchild of the late Siobhain Cotter who was Secretary of Scor Na Nog in the County at the time has gone from strength to strength and if the Semi Finals at both Castleisland Primary School and Foilmore Community Centre are anything to go by the expected huge following are sure to have a marvellous days entertainment.
There will be eight Districts Boards represented; Mid Kerry, South Kerry, East Kerry, Kenmare District, North Kerry Football, North Kerry Hurling, Castleisland District, West Kerry and Tralee/St. Brendans.There will be medals for both winners and runners up and certicifates for everybody competing; also the Siobhain Cotter Memorial Shield, (sponsored by Estuary Print and Trophies, Ballylongford) which was introduced in 2008 by the Coiste Scor Chairrai will be on display and presented to the overall Club at the end of the competition. Table Quiz will have a starting time of 1pm sharp. All District Board winners are requested to be present well in advance of the 1pm starting time. Doors close at 12 30pm for the Quiz. All other disciplines will be getting underway at 2 30pm.
This competition comes to a conclusion at this stage.

SCOR NA BPAISTI COUNTY SEMI FINALS
The County Semi Finals of Scor Na bPaisti took place at two different venues over last weekend where this very popular competition was well attended on both occasions. Two from each category were selected to go through to the County Finals from both venues which will take place on Sunday April 26th in the Tintean Theatre, Ballybunion. Muire Gan Smal, Presentation Primary Castleisland hoisted the first semi final on Friday March 28th with Mary Philpott as Bean a Ti which took in North of the County with five Districts Boards taking part; North Kerry Football, North Kerry Hurling, Castleisland District, West Kerry, Tralee/St. Brendans.
Then it was on to the Community Centre in Foilmore on Saturday March 29th where the participants from South of the County took part. On this occasion there were four District Boards taking part; East Kerry, Kenmare District, Mid Kerry and South Kerry. Here we had Bean a Ti Suzanne Ni Laoighre doing an excellent job; Before the competition got underway in Foilmore there was a minutes silence for three great Gaels that went to their eternal rest recently, Brendan O Shea, Jerry Savage and Brendan Walsh; Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam dilis The following are the qualifiers for the County Finals;

for North Kerry Scor with 9 Clubs taking part; Beale Ballydonoghue, St.
Senans, Tarbert, Ballylongford, Asdee, Duagh, Knocknure and Moyvane and

The North Kerry Finals of Scor Sinsear (Sponsored by Tom O Sullivan of Kilcolman Agri Supplies, Asdee) will take place in the Community Centre, Asdee on Saturday February 22nd commencing at 7pm sharp.
The Tintean Theatre Ballybunion will host the North Kerry Finals of Scor Na bPaisti on Sunday March 23rd commencing at 1.30pm.
COISTE SCOR CHIARRAI
MUNSTER FINALS. This Sunday January 26th 2pm our six Kerry participants will be aiming to reach the All Ireland Finals of Scor Na nOg when they take to the stage at the Mallow Youth Centre. Clubs representing Clare, Waterford, Tipperary, Limerick and the host County Cork will no doubt prove tough opposition. Certainly the standard of competition is top class as you would expect at this stage of the competition. However im sure our Kerry contingent will have worked hard since their tremendous semi final performances at Millstreet two weeks ago and will be up their with the best. From the East Kerry Board we have Spa performing in both Figure and Set Dancing along with Allison Fitzmartin in Recitation. Mid Kerry will have Keel flying the banner in Ballad Group. Another East Kerry club Fossa will be strong contenders in the Instrumental Music section while from Tralee/St. Brendans District Board, Na Gaeil will be our Leiriu representatives. So on behalf of everybody we wish them the best of luck.
The All Ireland Finals will take place in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar on Saturday March 1st.
MEETING. At the executive meeting of Coiste Scor Chiarrai on Thursday January 16th the dates for all the remaining Scor competitions were confirmed.
DATES FOR UPCOMING SCOR COMPETITIONS
SCOR SINSEAR County Final of Coiste Scor Sinsear Chiarrai will take place on Saturday March 15th with the Quiz at 4pm sharp while all other disciplines will get underway at 6pm. Venue for Senior Final is yet to be confirmed.
Kerry will have a bye into the Munster Finals so all the winners at our County Final will go straight into the Munster Finals. Venue here will be Mary.I. Limerick on Saturday April 5th, 6 30pm. All Ireland Finals in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar.
QUIZ QUIZ. QUIZ It is very important to note that the Format for the Quiz in both Scór Na nOg and Scor Sinsear has changed. It is now consists of a one night County Table Quiz. All clubs and Units will come together on the evening of the County Senior Finals on this occasion; (Sat. Mar. 15th) with the outright winner going directly through to the All Ireland Finals in the Royal Theatre,Castlebar where the 32 Counties will battle it out as to who will be crowned Quiz All Ireland champions for 2014..

COISTE SCOR CHAIRRAI AGM 2013/14
The Annual General Meeting of Coiste Scor Chairrai which had a huge attendance with all District Boards represented took place at the Austin Stack Park, Pavilion on Thursday last September 26th. Amongst the huge attendance present was Eamon O Sullivan, Ard Comhairle. The A G M opened with Chairperson Leona Twiss who welcomed everybody to the meeting and thanked those who helped in anyway in the promotion of Scor in the County; while in a very detailed Secretaries Report which was presented by Anita English giving full details of the years activities. A discussion took place on the some of the rule changes in our Scor programme to both Novelty Act and Quiz with many delegates expressing their disappointment. However this will apply for a three year period until it comes up for discussion again in 2016. Many tributes were paid to the Outgoing Secretary Anita English who had already announced that she was stepping down from her position as Secretary of Coiste Scor Chiarrai after a long and distinguished stay . Anita who has done trojan work with the last 8 years or so in the promotion of Scor in the County and beyond and on behalf of Coiste Scor Chiarrai we wish her all the best for the future. Maureen O Shea, former P R O of the County Committee and who needs little introduction to G A A affairs will take over as the new Secretary of Coiste Scor Chiarrai. The remainder of the Cultural committee remains the same for 2013/14

The National Scór Committee has this week issued the new rule book for Scór competitions.
The important changes to note
1. The new category called Léiriú will replace the Novelty act. Groups are still encouraged to write their own scripts with elements of live music, dance and comedy. The biggest difference between Léiriú and the Novelty is that Comórtas Léiriú must depict an event or events from the history or mythology of Ireland or the history or mythology of the country of birth/origin of member(s) of the
cast.
2. The categories of Recitation, Léiriú, Solo singing and Ballad may include pieces based on Irish history and folklore or on the history and folklore of the country of birth/origin of the competitor.
3. The quiz will continue to be organised by Scór but will be held on a different night. It will be a table quiz with 10 rounds of 10 questions. There will be a county final with each winner from the 32 counties participating in the All Ireland final. This will be held on the eve of the All Ireland Scór Finals. The categories for the 10 rounds are
1) Gaelic and Ladies Football
2) Hurling and Camogie
3) Babhta amháin as Gaeilge ar imeachtaÃChumann Lúthchleas Gael.

COISTE SCOR CHIARRAI
The Tintean Theatre, Ballybunion was packed to capacity on Sunday last for the staging of the 2013 Sponsored, "Lee Strand" Scor Na bPaisti County Finals and once again it must be said that the future of Scor is very much alive and well in the Kingdom and this is down to the trojan work done by all the many organisers of the competitions throughout the County at Club level with the wealth of talent that was on display at the finals. It was a special evening for all those young participants who done their respective Clubs proud with performances that belied their age groups that ranged from 8 to 12 years old. 26 clubs throughout the County were involved on the day. It was a special occasion for the Ballymacelligott club who scooped the Siobhain Cotter Memorial Overall Trophy which was presented to a Committee member of the club, Ann Kenny by the late Siobhains mother Kitty having been successful in the Ballad Group and coming second in the Recitation. The Figure Dancing went to Spa while the County Champions in Set Dancing were Currow.. In the Novelty Act category it was Knocknagoshel who claimed first place. Martin Casey of Lispole Club was announced as winner of the Solo Singing category while in the Question Time Fossa cleaned the boards getting full marks in the competition. Lixnaw won the Instrumental Music and Tadhg Sugrue, Tousist was crowned champion in Recitation. Coiste Scor Chiarrai Cultural Officer Leona Twiss thanked everybody for their participation in Scor, our kind sponsors Lee Strand and especially the Cotter Family who donated the Overall Trophy in honour of the late Siobhain who was the brainchild of this competition. She also was loud in his praise of of a fantastic venue in the Tintean Theatre The Chairperson then made a presentation to an excellent Bean A Ti, Eileen Moriarty. The presentation of medals was made to all the winners in the various catagories by Sinead Cottor. The competition came to a memorable conclusion with all the various winners and runners up on stage as former All Ireland runner up in Solo Singing, Aine Ni Shiochain from the St. Micheals Foilmore Club singing Amhran na bhFiann. SCOR NA BPAISTI NORTH KERRY FINALS
The North Kerry Finals of Scor Na bPaisti took place at the Tintean Theatre Ballybunion on Sunday evening last February 24th where once again this very popular competition drew a huge attendance to the Seaside venue. The standard of competition was of the highest order and well done to all competitors for the wonderful entertainment they provided. It was indeed a very successful evening for North Kerry Scor with a record 10 Clubs taking part; Beale Ballydonoghue, St. Senans, Tarbert, Ballylongford, Asdee, Listowel Emmets, Knocknure, Duagh and Moyvane and credit all the Clubs Cultural Officers for having their Clubs represented in competition. Certainly it was a memorable evening for the St. Senans Club and when the adjudicators made their final delibrations on the night they were crowned North Kerry champions in Figure Dancing, Instrumental Music, Ballad Group and Question Time. The Club also had three seconds in Solo Singing, Recitation and Novelty Act and to cap a very successful evening for the Club they won the Overall Club of the evening which was presented to their Coiste Na Nog Chairman Bertie Dillon on behalf of the Club. The remaining winners on the night were Listowel Emmets in the Solo Singing, Recitation went to Moyvane, Ballylongford were Novelty Act champions while Ballydonoghue won the Set Dancing. ">SCOR NA BPAISTI.
The North Kerry Finals of Scor Na bPaisti will be taking place at the Tintean Theatre, Ballybunion on this Sunday February 26th with a starting time of 2pm sharp. As this event is expected to have a large attendance and a huge entry it is important to note that all participants should be at the Ballybunion venue not later than 1 30pm. Proceedings will be getting underway at 2pm irrelevant of whos not present. Again only entry forms returned in time will be accepted to take part. Except for a few minor changes Scor Na bPaisti is ran in the same format as both Senior and Scor Na Nog. This competition will have 4 in their Quiz Team and all team questions will be all conferring. with 12 x 4 and 6 x 6 mark questions. All G A A questions will go back no further than 5 years. In the Set Dancing catagory teams taking part in this competition will only be allowed dance Kerry Sets. The usual Certicifates will be given to everybody taking part and medals will be given to those who come 1st and 2nd. It promises to be a very enjoyable occasion .Clubs that will be taking part will be Beale, Ballydonoghue, St. Senans, Knocknure, Ballylongford, Asdee, Duagh, Tarbert, Moyvane, Listowel Emmets, Clounmacon. The remaining 5 clubs; Ballyduff and Finuge will be taking part with the North Kerry Hurling Board while Castleisland Desmonds, Brosna and Knocknagoshel will participate with the Castleisland District Board.
