County League Division ! 
Castleisland Desmonds 4 13 Dingle 0 7 
Desmonds got off to the perfect start on sunday in Castleisland when they defeated an under strength Dingle Team in the first round of the county league division 1 .Dingle were without Their County stars the Geaneys .Desmonds had the aid of the breeze in the first half and lead 3 points to one after 7 minutes a huge battle at midfield saw Desmonds get  the better of the exchanges  Stan Devane got in for Desmonds first goal after 10 minutes and Desmonds pushed on this was followed by a Thomas Hickey penalty. Dara o Sullivan and Barry o Sullivan were battling hard for Dingle But Desmonds workrate and sharpness was more evident as Dingle could not convert their workrate to scores .with 7 minutes of the first half remaining Kieran Brennan  got in For Desmonds 3 rd Goal Dingle pulled 2 points back from Dara Sullivan and Joe Sheehy Desmonds Continued on and finished the half leading 3 7 to Dingles 0 3 
The second half saw wind advantage to Dingle Michael Slattery switched to midfield with dars Sullivan going to gull forward the Result yelded a  point each from Dan Ryan and john O Connor .Desmonds again closed ranks upped the tempo and added Goal no 4 for Thomas Hickey after 5 mns . Dingle were awarded a penalty mid way through the second half which was taken by Mattew Flaherty it was saved brilliantly by Gerard Reidy and Flaherty pointed on the rebound sadly this was Dingle s last score of the game  . A brief melee in the Desmonds goalmouth led referee Maurice OSullivan to issue two red cards one to Gavin Curran for Dingle and Pat Fitzjerald For Desmonds   Desmonds went on to win 4 13 to dingles 0 7  .on the day desmonds were sharper fitter and their overall team work was better Thomas hickey despite getting plenty of attention from the Dingle boys top scored with 1  9

Desmonds Ladies launched their strictly come dancing  fundraiser in Scoil Muire Gan Smal on saturday  It Will Take Place on saturday 15th May in the River Island Hotel .Competing couples are Padraig Murphy and Marie Moriarty Danny Healey Rae and Ellen Lynch Sheila Kerley and Bobby o Connell Paddy White and Nora Fealey Norelle o Learey and Peter Browne Sinead O connor and joe Walshe Elaine Guiney and Tom Mc Goldrick Elaine Doody and Pa white .more Details On ths Later .

In a top class game  Desmonds lost by the narrowest of margins in the Castleisland District league , scorers for Desmonds were Eamon Nolan 2 2 David Shanahan 2 3 Stephen Murphy 0 1 Padraig Murphy 0 1 We also Great performances from Brian Moloney and Ryan Maguire .
Pat mc Mahon RIP 
The death has occoured of Pat Mc Mahon Vice President of Castleisland Desmonds GAA club Pat was a long serving member of the GAA .He began his career playing underage football with Cordal Gaa Club .He then moved to Chicago where he played with St Bridgets gaa club he won a championdhip medal with St Bridgets .On His Return to Ireland he played with Desmonds and was a selector with Sean Brennan and Jimmy o Connell for the Senior team .Pat was popular with everyone in the Gaa and was widely known in farming circles as he worked  Castleisland Mart for many years  A large  number of members from Cordal Gaa club, Desmonds gaa club and members of Castleisland Co Op Mart provided a guard of honour at the removal .Sympothy is extended to his wife Marie and family  .May He Rest In Peace .
