Beale Gaa Notes   29/01/2023

Beale seniors got off to a dream start against Desmonds on Sunday with a goal in the opening minute in the first round of the North Kerry League, Division 1A. We then added a point to give us a 4-point cushion before our opponents settled into the game. Despite a good first half performance, we trailed by four points at the short whistle, 1-2 to 1-6. We found the net again early in the second half. However, our opponents took control in the closing quarter, and we lost out by 2-3 to 1-12.

Beale lined out as follows: Tommy O’Neill, Darragh Hanrahan, John Griffin, Andrew O’Connor, Daithí Toomey, Phillie Blake, Johnny O’Sullivan, Diarmuid O’Mahony, Fionnán Toomey, Seân Maloney, Callum McSweeney, Joe Finch, Tom Joy, Ger O’Gorman and Darragh Buckley. Substitutes: Neilus Mulvihill for Seân Maloney, Conor Toomey for Darragh Buckley, Niall Downey for Tom Joy, Aaron Kelly for Ger O’Gorman, Rory Mulvihill for John Griffin, Colm Carolan and Aaron Buckley.

This was the team’s first game under new manager, Kenneth Mannix. Kenneth has long been associated with coaching at under-age and minor level. We wish him and his management team, John Blake, Mike Purtill and Conor Liston all the best. Our next game is against Ballydonohue on Bank Holiday Monday at noon in Páirc de Staic. The following weekend, we host Duagh in Páirc de Staic.

Beale GAA extend best wishes to Ian Blake who has taken over as manager of Ballymacelligott GAA team. Ian had managed Beale GAA seniors for the past five years. It is a huge step up from managing County League, Division 4 side, Beale, to the County’s top division. We wish him well in his new appointment.
