Beale Gaa Notes   02/08/2022

Beale seniors lost out to Tarbert in the opening match of Group 3 of the County Junior Club Championship on Saturday evening. Played in torrential rain, we conceded two easy goals in the first half and went in at the interval, 2-5 to 1-2 down. We hit back in the second half but ended up with a 6-point deficit, 2-10 to 2-4.

We play Firies in Mountcoal on Saturday evening at 7 o’clock. Our final round game will be against Asdee.

Beale juniors play Tarbert tomorrow (Tuesday) evening in Division 4A of the North Kerry League, in Ballybunion at 7.30. We travel to Moyvane on Tuesday, August 9th for a 7.30 throw-in.

Well done to North Kerry U-21s on a gallant performance against East Kerry in the final of the County Championship on Wednesday evening. Spectators were treated to a magnificent display of football throughout. East Kerry’s sharp shooting in the first half gave them the lead, as North Kerry found scores hard to come by.

However, their defence stood firm, and they found their shooting boots in the second half. Very little separated the teams, and it was edge-of-the-seat football. North Kerry had a 1-point advantage as the clock ticked away.

East Kerry kicked a point to force the game into extra time. North Kerry lost out by 2 points, 3-14 to 1-22. Robert Stack was impressive at mid field but regrettably was forced off by injury in the closing minutes. Beale’s Diarmuid O’Mahony was listed among the substitutes.

An interesting fact as history repeats itself. Robert Stack and Cillian Trant lined out at midfield. Robert is great grandson of Bob Stack and Cillian, great grandson of Con Brosnan. Bob Stack and Con Brosnan formed a formidable midfield partnership for Kerry in the 1920s.
