Beale Gaa Notes   06/10/2022

A great weekend on the field of play, with Beale seniors defeating Moyvane on Saturday in the first round of the County Novice Championship. Then, on Sunday, Beale juniors were crowned North Kerry champions, winning the final of the North Kerry League, Division 4.

Our juniors travelled to Knockanure to take on Duagh in the long- awaited North Kerry final. We were on the back foot from the throw in and our opponents had raised the white flag four times before we finally got on the scoreboard. But we turned it around and went in at the interval on level terms on four points apiece.

We drove on for there and lead by 1-6 to 0-7 going into the last quarter. Duagh attempted to fight back but we held firm, and the final score was in our favour, 1-9 to 0-8. Surrounded by jubilant team, management and supporters, Beale captain, Conor Toomey, was presented with the winning trophy by PJ Mulvihill, secretary of the Noth Kerry Board.

Beale lined out as: Tommy O’Neill, Andrew O’Connor, John Blake, Darragh Hanrahan, John Martin Horgan, Joe Finch, Daithí Toomey, Daniel Hayes, Seán Maloney, Conor Toomey (capt), Rory Mulvihill, Callum McSweeney, Eric Daly, Barry O'Mahony and Colm Carolan. Substitutes: Mark Hennessy for Eric Daly, Pâdraig Holly for Rory Mulvihill, Shane Joy for John Blake, Barry O’Neill for Colm Carolan, Bernard O’Callaghan for John Martin Horgan, Thomas Pierce, Dermot Cummins, Philip Hornyak, Jack O’Sullivan, Jake O’Connell, David Hennessy, Wayne Hayes, Barry Ryan, Aaron Kelly, Ben Murphy and Pádraig Murphy.

We received a bye in the opening round of the North Kerry Senior Football Championship. First round games are scheduled to begin in mid-October. Our juniors compete for the North Kerry Intermediate Cup. We await details. .
