ASDEE G A A
The St. Marys, Asdee G A A Club have been very successful in recent times and its just a few years ago when we were celebrating a Munster final victory when we defeated Corks finest; Charlevill in an epic final. and previous to that County and North Kerry Titles were celebrated. However the club have now set their sights on a bigger assignment and exciting times lay ahead when they will take part in an All Ireland competition. Without doubt we are so lucky to have former All Ireland 3 times Senior medal holder John Kennedy in our midst for it was he and not for the first time who got the ball rolling to be involved at this stage. So the club are delighted to have been invited to the prestigious St Judes All Ireland Junior 7s next Saturday, 31st August. The competition has been running since 1989 and has seen Kerry teams like An Gaeltacht victorious in the past, while Brosna & Kenmare have either won or made the final in more recent years.

The format sees 32 teams from around the country split into 8 groups of 4, with the top teams going into the knockout phases, while the bottom teams fight it out for the Shield.

A panel of 12, with 7 players on the field at any time play games consisting of 8 minutes per half which will be no doubt a serious test of fitness and skill.

It promises to be an exciting weekend and an honour for our players and club to be taking part. It is a nice bonus on the back of a great year for the club, having won a North Kerry League title and still fighting for promotion heading into the final round of the County League.

No doubt the players will give it their best shot and im sure will enjoy a historical weekend in the Capital. So come Sunday evening who knows but that both captains; Gavin White, Kerry and Sean Keane, Asdee could be celebrating famous victories. Now we must not forget that All Ireland 7-a-side medals are no strangers to this side of the Parish with, Donal Kissane, Village, and the late Paud and Eamon O Donoghue, Kilcolman being part of a Shannon Rangers 3-in-a-row of All Ireland titles back in the mid 70s. Now finally we must not forget our most generous Sponsor; Brandon Bioscience, Kilcolman, Asdee who we want to thank sincerely once again for their continued support and for having our team and supporters looking the part on this special occasion..

ALL IRELAND
Best of luck to the Kerry Senior Footballers and all concerned in their quest for All Ireland honours and to stop the Dubs in their drive for 5.
