Beale GAA   05/11/2018

Beale GAA Club host our Annual General Meeting on Saturday, December 1st, at 8.30pm in Ballybunion Community Centre. Nominations for club officers and motions for the AGM to be submitted to the Secretary by November 10th.

The end scoreline did not reflect the game when Beale juniors lost out to Ballylongford by nine points in the North Kerry Championship semi-final on Saturday afternoon. Played in beautiful autumnal conditions, we found it hard to get off the starting blocks and were 2-4 adrift before we got on the scoreboard.

We then hit a purple patch and went in at the short whistle, 1-2 to 2-5. We drove on on the changeover, raising the green flag from the throw-in and then brought our opponents back to within two points. However, the wheels came off our wagon in the last ten minutes with our defence under pressure. Delay in releasing the ball cost us as Ballylongford capitalised on opportunities. The game ended, 2-7 to 4-10.

Beale lined out as: Peter McMahon, John Blake, Tom Pierce, John M Horgan, David Hennessy, Stephen Galvin, Pa Greaney, John Griffin, Seán Maloney, Alan Breen, Pádraig Holly, Callum McSweeney (0-1), Daniel Hayes, Ian Blake (0-4(4f)) and Cillian Courtney (2-1). Substitutes: Colm Carolan for Tom Pierce, Seán Farrell (0-1) for Pa Greaney, K Downey for Ian Blake, P Rowan for Alan Breen and Diarmuid O’Mahoney for John Blake.

Beale and Moyvane/Tarbert contest North Kerry Championship Under-21 quarter final replay on Saturday, November 17th, in Ballylongford, at 2.30pm. Last weekend the teams could not be separated at the final whistle and ended level again after extra time.

Beale minors are through to the final of the North Kerry Championship, Division 1. We await details of our meeting with Emmets.

Huge thanks to everyone involved in the Beale GAA Halloween Tunnel of Terror. Another spectacular evening! A festival atmosphere abounded as our zombies took over the streets and live music added to the spirit of the evening. Hundreds queued for the Tunnel of Terror which proved to be even spookier than ever. To our zombies, actors and all who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this a another massive success, míle buíochas!

It's that time of year again when we are planning our annual Xmas event which takes place on Saturday, December 22nd.

Beale GAA Club extend sympathies to the O’Connell family on their recent bereavement. Mike’s sister, Maureen, passed to her eternal reward after a long illness, bravely borne. Ar dheis Dé grub a h-anam uasal. Mike is former club vice-chairman and is a very active and influential member of our executive committee. His son, Jake, is player representative on the executive committee and an ace forward on our senior team, while Andy, Elaine and Brenda, have all donned the club colours.
