Eventho starting without three key players, Beale minors got off to a dream start against Desmonds in the semi-final of the North Kerry League, Division 1, in Mountcoal on Tuesday evening. We raised the green flag twice in quick succession in the opening minutes and really put it up to our opponents. Beale dominated play as Desmonds found it difficult to settle and our defence held firm against any attack. We went into the interval nine points to the good, 3-4 to 4 points. However, we would come to rue missed scoring chances.

Intense goal-mouth drama on the changeover yielded no return for our boys but instead ended with the ball in the back of the net at the other end. This was the start of our opponents’ clawback and the encounter could best be described as a game of two halves. Desmonds chipped away at our lead and two goals in the closing quarter put the writing on the wall for us. Our lads battled hard but Desmonds finished stronger and, at the final whistle, we were three points adrift, 3-7 to 3-10.

Beale lined out as: David Hennessy, Conor Hennessy, Diarmuid O’Mahoney, Conor Toomey, Liam Bryant, Fintan Linnane, Paddy O’Rourke, Pádraig Holly (capt), Bernard O’Callaghan, Cathal Farrell, Seán Moloney, Mark Hennessy, Phillip Byrne, Eric Daly and Barry O’Neill. Substitutes: Conor Breen for Eric Daly, Darragh Hanrahan for Philip Byrne, Andrew O'Connor for Cathal Farrell and Aaron Buckley.

Beale juniors are through to the quarter final of the Cahill Cup, as Castlegregory conceded last Friday’s game. We play Annauscal in the quarter final this Friday at 6.45 in Ballybunion. .

It's North Kerry Championship time of the year again. Beale seniors play Ballyduff in the opening round in Ballyduff, while our juniors received a bye. Beale minors take on Moyvane/Tarbert in the opening round, with our Under-21s also playing Moyvane/Tarbert.

Shannon Rangers lost out to a much stronger Dingle side in the County Senior Championship on Saturday in Dingle by 3-18 to 0-9. Rangers play St Brendan’s on Saturday evening at 5.30 in the qualifiers round.
