County League Div. 5 - Valentia  2-8  Asdee  1-7 -Played in sunny and pleasant conditions at O’Connor Park,Valentia the Valentia Young Islanders were victorious on a score of 2-7 to 1-8. The islanders got off to a flying start and led by 1-3 to 0-0. Paul O’Connor and John Shanahan opened the scoring with a point each and then a goal by John Shanahan was followed by a point by Paul O’Sullivan.Owen Tydings opened the scoring for Asdee with a point to be followed by a Paul O’Connor point to leave the score at 1-4 to 0-1 in favour of Valentia. Noel Long added an Asdee point to be followed with another from Paul O’Carroll free. John Shanahan scored a very impressive 50 to be replied to by a point from a Paul O’Carroll free. It left the half time score at 1-5 to 0-4 in favour of Valentia. Asdee started the second half well as Cyril Dineen,Darragh Keane and and Kieran Kelly had a point each to bring the score to 1-5 to 0-7.A pointed free by John Shanahan steadied Valentia’s ship and the score stood at 1-6 to 0-7 when Asdee had a gilt edged goal chance foiled by a vital and timely interception on the line by Valentia’s wing back Senan Lynch.The Valentia midfielder Jim Lynch  put Paul O’Connor through for a very good point and then with the score at 1-7 to 0-7 in Valentia’s favour John Shanahan floated a high ball into the square which was palmed to the net by Jim Lynch. This score gave the Young Islanders a 2-7 to 0-7 lead but on the next attack Owen Tydings replied with a low and hard shot to the net for Asdee. TheValentia corner back David Hussey then somehow got a hand to an Asdee goal effort to bring off a fine save. Soon after Asdee put unrelenting pressure on the Valentia goal.They won a close in free but failed to penetrate a packed Valentia goalmouth.They kept up the unrelenting pressure and passions became high as players from opposing sides grappled with each other. Their final free effort for goal went over the bar to be followed by the final whistle by referee Ger McGillycuddy.  

Coaching Course - Under 8 & 10 Workshop (2) Fundamential Movements Thursday March 29th in Listowel G.A.A. grounds at 7pm. The foundation level coaching course that was cancelled has been re-fixed for Saturday March 31st in St Michael's College Listowel at 10am.

 

Scór na bPaistí -  The North Kerry Finals of Scor Na bPaisti took place in the Marian Hall Moyvane on Sunday and once again this very popular competition drew a huge attendance to the Seaside venue. The standard of competition was of the highest order and well done to all competitors for the wonderful entertainment they provided.
