RESULTS; Co. League Ballydonoghue Div3 Rd2. 3-11. Laune Rangers 3-14.

A miraculous escape by Laune rangers to come from eight points behind with 11mins remaining to win by three. As Ballydonoghue were left wondering what had gone wrong after being coasting to what appeared a comfortable win.

After a good start by Laune Rangers, scoring two points early on, Paul Kennelly got the home side off the mark and shortly afterwards converted Ballydonoghue’s first penalty when the Rangers keeper fouled inside the small square. Outside of that goal there wasn’t much to choose between the sides for the remainder of the half Ballydonghue just edging the point tally by one. HT Ballydonoghue 1-6. Laune Rangers 0-5.

Minutes into the second half Rangers were right back in the game when Patrick Carey struck for Laune Rangers first goal followed by a John O’Shea point to bring the sides level B/Don 1-7. L. Rgrs 1-7. Five minutes later L. Rgrs were rocked again after a great Ballydonoghue move was finished with Jim Cremin firing home an unstoppable shot past the Rgrs keeper. Ballydonoghue then produced their best spell adding another goal from the penalty spot. Laune Rgrs did have a couple of good goal chances but they came up against an inform Darragh O’Shea who brought off a couple of fine saves over the course of the hour. Ballydonoghue led by eight points with eleven mins left and looked to be well in control. Then a L. Rgrs 45m free that dropped short was fisted across the square by substitute Chris Riordan and it was fisted to the net by the unmarked Patrick Carey. This spurred on the Rangers side while Ballydonoghue seemed to lose their way. Rangers then added another point before a sky scrapper of shot from Com O’Shea was fisted to the net by Kevin Fitzpatrick there was no stopping Laune Rangers now and they went on to have three points to spare at the final whistle. Ballydonoghue 3-11. Laune Rangers 3-14.
