STARS IN THEIR EYES

The week has arrived for the second edition of Asdee GAA's ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ in the Asdee Community Centre on this Saturday, November 18th, at 8pm.

12 acts from around North Kerry will take to the stage to try and win either the popular vote or the judges vote on the night.

Our acts are as follows: Asdee National School, Kerry Kerz Herbert & Liam McCarthy, Rebecca Lynch, North Kerry Tools For Hire, Eoin O'Mahony & Catherine Kennedy, Sinead Carr, Sonny Egan, Tom Kennedy, Mad 4 Trad, who are under the tutelage of Katie McNamara, Joe Edgeworth, Audrey Costello, while John Paul Galvin, Dan Foley, Sean Breen & Tommy Carroll will form a group on the night.

Our three judges are Radio Kerry's Ger 'Flash' Walsh, renowned entertainer Frances Kennedy, and Timmy Moynihan of Radio Kerry's Terrace Talk.

The event will once again be hosted by Eoin Kennedy.

Tickets are on sale from club officers, Asdee Post Office & John Pius Walsh's shop.

They are priced at €15, with each ticket holder receiving a complimentary programme at the door.

Demand is extremely high so please buy in advance or come early on the night to avoid disappointment, as space is limited.

The doors will open at 7pm, with kick-off at 8pm sharp, followed by a disco after the crowning of our winning acts, provided by the very popular  Ger 'Flash' Walsh.

The marquee will once again host the bar, where the quality of the pints provided by Joe Dee & Gemma Collins received rave reviews last year.

The teas, coffees, baps & treats will be provided in the shop by Kathleen Carmody.

There has been trojan work put in by our sponsorship committee, act managers & everyone involved in organising the night.

If it is anything like last year, it should be a mighty night in the village.

CUMANN NA BUNSCOIL

Asdee National School are really hitting the headlines recently; with great success in Cumann Na Bun Scoil 3-4 Teacher School. Having ousted Moyvane by 4-6 to 0-4 in the North Kerry Semi Final they continued their impressive run with a 4-3 to 1-3 North Kerry Final victory with both games played at Brosnan Park, Moyvane. Then it was on to Duagh where they took on Knocknagoshel N.S. in the County Quarter Final winning on a scoreline of 3-4 to 1-5 on Tuesday November 9th. Playing against the wind in the first half, Asdee held firm against numerous Knock attacks with Oisín Healy making a number of brilliant saves in goals.

Some good tackling from Eamon Connor, Brian Dineen, John Daly and in particular, Jack Hannon, saw Knock limited to just 3 points in the opening half.

While in attack Patrick Mulvihill, who scored 2 good frees in the half, Padraig Fogarty, Cormac Scanlon, Darragh Healy & Roisín Fogarty worked hard against the wind to see Asdee go in at the break only one point behind, 3 points to 2.

The second half came to life with Patrick Mulvihill scoring the first goal of the game after good work from Cormac Scanlon and Padraig Fogarty.

Shortly after, Cormac Scanlon added a point before an excellent Darragh Healy point increased the lead.

Padraig Fogarty then scored Asdee's second goal, before Knock hit back with a goal of their own, closing the gap to a goal.

However, Asdee countered immediately with a lovely move finishing with Cormac Scanlon lobbing the keeper and giving Asdee a six-point cushion.

Ava Doyle, Niamh Daly, Orla McElligott and Samantha O'Sullivan all entered the play during the second half and worked hard to secure the win for their team.

Referee Tom O'Sullivan blew the full time whistle to great excitement from the Asdee team, as they now advance to the County Semi-Final.

Congrats to all the players who turned in outstanding performance in the run up to this stage of the competition.

Well done to team manager Conor Coughlan, Eoin Kennedy, Gerdie O' Carroll, Mrs. O'Regan & all those who attended for helping to drive the team on today.
