North Kerry Senior Championship - Quarter Final

Emmets 1-15 V Asdee 2-04

Frank Sheehy Park was the venue for our Seniors first outing in this years Championship in a game where the visitors were hoping to cause an upset under lights in front of the large crowd in attendance. The first half was a tense affair with both teams struggling to create opportunities in front of goal as both defences seemed to be coming out on top at either end. Cormac Mulvihill had an excellent opening half on the 40' firing over some important scores from distance to keep Emmets in front with Asdee's defensive tactics proving extremely difficult to break down. The away side drew level just before half-time thanks to a spot kick as playmaker Eoin Kennedy was deemed to be fouled on the edge of the square to leave the score Emmets 0-07 Asdee 1-04 at the break.

The second half was all about Listowel as they began to take control in most sectors of the field with Bryan Sweeney to the fore as he capped off a solid performance with a well taken goal and a couple of points. Niall Collins and Ger McCarthy also came in to their own after the break as Asdee tried hard and hung in there with a second goal but it was to be their only score of the half as Emmets fired over some well taken points with David Keane and Sam Tarrant getting in on the act. Overall it was a decent Emmets display but Brian Scanlans side will certainly look to improve as they move on to the Semi-Finals of the competition.
