ASDEE G A A

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. All 16 club delegates including  local club delegate, Mark O Hanlon within theNorth Kerry Football Board were in attendance at McMunns Bar and Restaurant,Ballybunion who are sponsors of the North Kerry Senior Football Championship onWednesday evening August 16. Prior to the draw North Kerry Football BoardChairman Johnny Stack welcomed everybody to the meeting; then calling on theprevious Chairman, Billy Enright who finished his term of office in 2016 due tothe five year rule and who was made a presentation to acknowledge thetremendous amount of work having served the Board over a 27 year period  as Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and P RO on two occasions along with been involved with his Club Ballylongford and ShannonRangers. Draws were made for Intermediate, Junior, Minor and NoviceChampionships but the highlight of the night being the draw for the Bernard OCallaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship. All eyes were on the bowl ascompetition sponsor Greg Ryan of McMunns Bar and Restaurant did the honours. 14teams were entered with the first two teams out to receive a bye to round 2.All first named teams will be enjoying home advantage. Both Tarbert andListowel Emmets received the byes as the draw  certainly  threw up some very exciting contests and nonemore so than the clash of last years champions Ballydonoghue and would be oneof the favourites to lift the Cup again and their meeting with a rejuvenatedBallylongford at O Rahilly Park will be very interesting to say the least. Lastyears finalists St. Senans have a tricky assignment when they travel to BobStack Park. Another tough clash will be for Finuge who have to travel to Brosnaand this could well be the game of the round. Ballyduff if fully committed are a match for anybody and if they canfield at full strength wont fear anybody; they play Castleisland Desmonds inBallyduff. Both teams can field strong teams but its all on the day here as towho will have the strongest outfit.  ConBrosnan Park will see those great rivals Moyvane and Duagh with both goingthrough sticky periods at present; these teams have fantastic support for theirclubs so plenty noise in Moyvane.  Lastbut not least Asdee at home to Knocknagoshel at Walsh Park; both teams are having problems with numbers not playingwell and one would imagine either wont be in the shake up at the business endof the championship. So i suppose; Ballydonoghue, Finuge, Listowel Emmets,Castleisland Desmonds and either Beale or St. Senans would be in the shake upfor the Eamon O Donoghue Cup. Can Brosna, St. Senans or Knocknagoshel finallylift the cup. Interesting times ahead. Fixtures will be confirmed by the C C Cof the North Kerry Football Board.
