Ballydonoghue 1 - 09

Asdee / Ballylongford 1 - 12Asdee / Ballylongford followed on up last week’s success against Tarbert with yet another one score margin victory against Ballydonoghue. In contrast to the glorious sunshine of the previous Monday, this game was played in constant rain leading to tricky underfoot conditions at Coolard. There was never more than a score between the teams throughout the whole game. Ballydonoghue got off to a powerful start kicking three unanswered points. It took Asdee / Bally 10 minutes to get going before they responded with 1-1 to take the lead, Brendan Keane kicking our opening point and Oisin Healy scoring a wonderful goal. The teams traded points for the remainder of the half as Brendan Keane added a further three points along with a Liam Connolly effort to leave 2 points between the sides at half time.Half time: Ballydonoghue 0 – 6 Asdee / Bally 1 - 05Again Ballydonoghue started the half stronger and quickly turned a two point deficit into a two point lead scoring 1-1 on the resumption. With a greasy ball and driving rain at this stage of the game, scores were never going to be easily got. Our defence were on top for the remainder of the game with captain for the night Oran O’Neill and Mikey Hannon clearing any danger which came into the full back line. Adam Finucane was now dominant at centre back flanked excellently by youngsters Jack Hannon and Patrick Mulvihill.Asdee / Bally outscored Ballydonoghue by seven points to two for the remainder of the game with Christopher O’Donoghue, Brendan Keane and Liam Connolly kicking two each along with the closing point by Oisin Healy. This was an all-round team performance from Niall O’ Connors’ safe hands in goals to the endless work around the middle from Paddy O’Neill and Ethan McDonald to the movement of Sean O’Connor in corner forward.Full time: Ballydonoghue 1 – 09 Asdee / Bally 1 - 12Referee: Tom O’ SullivanResultUnder 16 County League Ballylongford/Asdee 7-8 Cordal/Scartaglen 4-11.
