North Kerry U14 League Asdee / Ballylongford 3 - 10

Tarbert 1 - 14The North Kerry League resumed in Jack Walsh Park Asdee on Monday evening with a wonderful game of football played by both teams in sun drenched conditions. The teams were neck and neck for all of the first half with never more than a score between them. Brendan Keane got the home team on the scoreboard with a brace of points. Oisin Healy was quickest to react to a breaking ball to drive the ball to the back of the net. He followed up on this effort with 2 more points as well as a lovely point by Liam Connolly on the stroke of half time.Half time: Asdee / Bally 1 - 05 Tarbert 0 - 7Tarbert came out firing on all cylinders at the start of the second half and quickly opened up a 4 point lead scoring 1-2 on the restart. Great credit due to our boys who never threw in the towel playing in the sweltering heat. Paddy O’Neill and Christopher O’Donoghue began to get a hold on midfield.

Brendan Keane scored a goal to put a point between the sides.

Asdee-Bally then dominated possession for a spell with points coming from Brendan Keane (2) and Patrick Mulvihill. An excellent team move resulted in a goal for Paddy O’Neill from midfield. However, Tarbert continued to press and pick off points. Just as he did in the first half, Liam Connolly finished off the scoring with a well taken point. With a dangerous lead of 2 points, the game was hanging in the balance. Our defence held strong with Mikey Hannon dominant at full back helping Asdee-Bally hold out for the win.John Ross handled the game excellently and allowed for a sporting game to develop.Full time: Asdee / Bally 3 - 10 Tarbert 1 – 14 Referee: John RossTeam:

Senior County League Ballylongford 2-7  Rathmore B 0-12

Ballylongford got back to winning ways with a hard fought one point win over a fancied East Kerry side.Played in near perfect conditions with only a slight cross field breeze to contend with it. Ciaran O'Connor got Ballylongford off to the perfect start with a goal in the first minute after a good attacking move. The game ebbed and flowed for the next quarter but it was Rathmore who was doing all the scoring and by the 15th minute they had gone two ahead with Denis McCarthy and Mark Reen providing the points.Ballylongford had not raised a white flag at this stage and it was midfielder Joe McCarthy who is playing outstanding football against much bigger opponents scored a pointed free in the 16th minute to narrow the gap.The two McCarthy's exchanged a further two points apiece to leave it level at half time.Half Time ScoreBallylongford 0-6 Rathmore B 0-6.The second half began with Ciaran O;Connor fielding a high ball and kicking over a fine point to put Ballylongford back in front only to see it cancelled out two minutes later with a Mark Reen pointed free. The game continued at a frantic pace with quick restarts from both sides and matching each other point for point.A goal at any stage would have sealed it and Rathmore came close on a couple of occasions but Paudie Moroney brought off some fine saves and at the twenty minute mark the side were level once again.A goal was always going to be an important score in a close game and in the 27th minute it came Ballylongfords way when Darren Murphy was fouled in the square and Ciaran O'Connor put away the resultant penalty to put them three ahead.Rathmore were playing with 14 men for the final ten minutes as Donnacha McCarthy was red carded for a striking offence, however they piled on the pressure and John O'Keefe and Denis McCarthy kicked over two points to leave the minimum between the sides, but Ballylongford held out to record a well earned victory.Overall a great team performance who are back in action next weekend at home to Valentia young Islanders.Referee Colman Flaherty.Ballylongford Team.Paudie Moroney.Kenneth Tydingd.Stephen Foley.Sean Carmody.Tadhg McEllistrim.Matt Connor.Padraig O'Neill.Joe McCarthy.0-4.Jack Mulvihill.Darren Murphy.Jason Deegan.Thomas Doherty.Seanie Kennelly.Ciaran O'Connor 2-3.Liam McElligott.Subs Michael Holly.Michael Lynch.
