County Minor League - Div 2

Killarney Legion 1-12 V Emmets 2-11

Our Minors were away to Legion in round 2 of the County League Division 2 and really turned on the style when they got over a strong Legion side in a rip roaring game with some excellent scores coming from both sides. Our boys, with a considerable wind to their backs, were quick out the blocks and a combination of tenacious defending and slick forward play meant we had a 6 points to 2 lead at half time with scores coming from Sean Keane(5pts) and Steven McCarthy with the other point.
Emmets: 0.6 Legion 0.2

Legion came out all guns blazing in the second half but a surging run by Devan McKenna into the heart of the Legion defence resulted in a penalty which was expertly dispatched by Sean keane and Keane followed with two frees which meant we were 2 points ahead with fifteen minutes to go. Legion then scored a well worked goal but our boys responded brilliantly when the fresh legs of Fergal Wall beat two defenders and left the goalkeeper with no chance when raising a green flag for Emmets. This left a nail bitting end to the game and with 2 minutes remaining we found ourselves 1 point behind on the scoreboard. Our boys dont give up easy however and Robert Smith showed great leadership when he went on a great run and scored the equaliser with an inspirational score. Our boys were gunning for the victory and Sheldon O'Neill stepped up with two great points from difficult angles which turned out to be the game winners.

Final Score: Emmets: 2.11 Legion 1.12

Having lost in a very close game to Kilgarvan/templenoe/Tousist in Round 1 the boys are now back on track with upcoming game next Saturday away to Rathmore.
