FUNDRAISER. St. Marys Asdee are running a Fundraising Christmas Draw

at the minute with tickets widely on sale at E2 per line or E5 for 3

lines from all club members. Top prize will be a monster hamper with

plenty worthwhile spot prizes to be given away on the night of the

draw which will take place at “Jack Js” on Friday December 23rd. Your

support once again would be very much appreciated.

LOOKING BACK.  Down through the years Asdee have produced a host of

top class footballers that have played at the highest level possible

and winning numerous medals at both National, Munster and also Club

level. In fact the majority of the players have won their medals while

playing with Ballylongford who are our fellow parishioners as at that

particular time. Asdee didn’t have an affiliated team with players

from the western side of the parish having to play all their football

in the Blue and White of Bally. So this week we will reflect back on

the achievements of Asdee players from the area who won  National

medals with Kerry; (Not mentioning the numerous achievements with

their Clubs and District Board) while been playing under the

Ballylongford flag; with the exception of Jack Walsh and Jack

Moriarty. In fact it is worth recalling that Paud and Eamon O Donoghue

holds the record for brothers to hold 10 National League Senior

Football medals between them and also Paud became the first player to

complete the  treble of Minor, Under 21 and Senior National Medals

with Kerry.. Of course this has been achieved on numerous occasions

since. The Croke Memorial medal won by Jack Moriarty when he lined out

with Kerry in May 4th, 1913 against Louth which went to a replay on

June 29th and it was the windfall from these games which enabled the G

A A to purchase Jones Road now of course known as Croke Park. John

Kennedy trained Kerry teams at Under 21 and Minor level along with

Clare Senior Footballers and is a regular in the match commentary with

Radio Kerry

CHAMPIONSHIP. St. Senans for the third time in their history have

qualified for the Bernard O Callaghan Memorial North Kerry Senior

Football Championship Final in Association with McMunns Bar and

Restaurant by virtue of an impressive victory over Tarbert played at

Frank Sheehy Park, Listowel on Sunday last. Next up for St. Senans

will be a meeting with either Listowel Emmets or  Ballydonoghue in the

2016 Championship Final on Sunday December 18th; 2-30pm. Can this be

the year that St. Senans will finally win their first North Kerry

Championship Title ?.

This Sunday December 4th the second semi final will see Ballydonoghue

v Listowel  Emmets do battle at Con Brosnan Park, Moyvane that will

have a starting time of 2 30pm. Certainly the rivalry between these

two clubs goes way back but in fairness it is a friendly rivalry which

always adds to the occasion as neither will want to loose to each

other. Without doubt it will be more of the same come Sunday and for

the winners its a place in the District decider. Listowel Emmets will

be trying to put back to back titles together last done by them in

2008 and 2009. For Ballydonoghue its a much longer stint as they go

back to 1992 for their last title.. However thats all in the past and

this Sunday will see what many of the so called experts in the

District expecting that this will be Ballydonoghues year; Without

doubt they are a team to be reckoned with; they  are after a

tremendous year and most unlucky not to have won the County Junior

Championship; oozing with talent they don’t fear any team. The

Listowel boys will have to improve on their recent performance against

Ballyduff  but in fairness they were very much understrength on the

day; but when their backs were to the wall they ground out victory in

a very efficient manner. This was experience at its best; they too

have plenty quality players and im sure wont be found wanting on the

day. Both were impressive in their run up to this stage with probably

Ballydonoghue having the easiest of matters against Asdee and Brosna.

Listowel Emmets were always too good for Knocknagoshel while they had

to pull out all the stops against Ballyduff.  So with both probably

even favourites to lift the Eamon O Donoghue Cup the huge crowd

expected including local football supporters to decend on Brosnan Park

will no doubt will get full value for their money.

SCOR.  The best of luck to the Ballydonoghue Instrumental Music Group

of Alan Foley, Aoife Lynch, Ryan O Neill, Roisin Kissane, Caoimhe

Barry and teacher; Katie McNamara/Purcill who will be representing

both their Club and County at the Munster Semi Finals of Coiste Scor

Na Nog which will be taking place in Cashel County Tipperary on this

Sunday December 11th getting underway at 2pm.There are are a few of

the above names with plenty Asdee connections.

FIXTURES.  In the Under 21 North Kerry Championship; sponsored by

Dennehy Vetenary Clinic,Duagh; Asdee will be joined by Ballylongford

and Beale and they will take on Knocknagoshel/Brosna in the opening

round with the winners to go through to the Semi Final. Date to be

confirmed by C C C of the Board.
