Ballydonoghue got off to the best possible start when Jim Cremin found the back of the Moyvane net inside the first minute and he followed up with a point 2mins later before a John J. Mulvihill free got Moyvane off the mark. Ballydonoghue were looking the better side for the first ¼ but gradually Moyvane were working their way back into the game and had pulled level after 25mins and finished the half with two late points from Aidan Keane. Ballydonoghue got two great goal chances early in the second half but they failed to convert either of them. Moyvane still held their 2pt advantage after 10 mins after both sides had exchanged 3pts apiece. Moyvane's Johnny Greaney then made it a 3pt game before P.J. Stack struck for a decisive score when he blasted to the net from close range after a great Moyvane passage of play. Ballydonoghue had it all to do now with 10 mins remaining and though they threw everything at Moyvane they could only manage two more points from Kevin Dillon while Moyvane added another 3pts to their tally before the final whistle.
