Division 2 Rd 3

Asdee 1.06 v Ballydonoghue 2.10
Report Jack Hennessy
Without ever reaching top gear Ballydonoghue continued their unbeaten North Kerry League Division 2 run when they overcame Asdee at Walsh Park on Sunday last in a fairly well contest encounter. Certainly even though the home side had their moments they cant complain about the final result as they made it that little bit easier for their opponents with some deplorable shooting when it came to finding the target and a two goal salvo between the 10th and 20thminute of the opening half resulting in poor defending didn't help their cause. On the other hand even though Ballydonoghue led throughout they too squandered scoring opportunities but in fairness were always in control of the situation. The game was only a minute old when the visitors hit the front with a Paul Kennelly point and the Ballydonoghue sharpshooter hit 1-5 before this game came to a conclusion. It took the home side 9mts to open their account and it was certainly worth waiting for with a spectacular effort from 40 meters out by Noel Long who also finished a scrambled goal in the 21st mt. In between though the home side were caught napping when Paul Kennelly and Robert McGreggor struck for goals of a soft variety. Paul Kennelly, Tommy Kennelly and Jim Cremin popped over points with just a solitary point for the home side coming from Noel Long and at the break it was; Ballydonoghue 2-5 to Asdee 1-1.

On the changeover it was much of the same with Ballydonoghue on top and Asdee probably a shade better but the squandermania continued. Martin O Mahony hit 2pts in the opening quarter but the free taking ability of Eoin Tydings kept his side in touch but it was never going to be enough.Again the Kennelly brothers Paul and Tommy along with Martin O Mahony, Jim Cremin, Diarmuid Behan, John O Mahony and Darren Gogarty were always in the thick of the action for Ballydonoghue while for the home side John Doran, Darren Russell, Eoin Kennedy, Noel Long, Sean Keane, Eoin O Carroll and Kieran Kelly did best.
