SENIOR CO. LEAGUE - DIVISION 3 - ROUND 1 - 19/3/2017 2017-03-19 18:35:00

Ballymacelligott 0-13 Dromid Pearses 0-13

Over the years, there have been many battles between  Ballymac and Dromid and today was no different. In a game of two halves, due to the weather conditions, saw enthusiasm held back by resolve.  Some great work around the middle of the field by Dan O Shea and Cian Counihan, partnered with some well taken points from the in-form P McCarthy, V Horan & Eanna Reidy.  Dromid were marshalled well by a tough Ballymac defense, who turned over ball after ball.  Dromid kept in touch with some well taken frees, which left Ballymac go in at the short whistle with a well deserved lead.  Half time score Ballymac 0-11 Dromid Pearses 0-05.

Ballymac started the second half with a well taken point from Tomas O Connor, but Dromid’s resolve came to the fore with them dropping back, limiting time and space for the Ballymac forwards. The South Kerry team were able to convert some solid defending into attack quite quickly and saw them outscore Ballymac in the second half by 0-08 points to    0-02 and leaving the final score level at 0-13 apiece.   Ballymac may feel disappointed with giving up such a lead, but they could easily have come away with nothing only for some great resolve in hanging on in a game, which previously may have slipped away.
