Brosna 1-12 St Senans 1-11

Brosna claimed a dramatic win in the first round of the county league on Sunday with a one point victory over St Senans in Brosna.  This clash of two north Kerry rivals was a great game of football.  St Senans got off to the perfect start with four early points in the opening ten minutes;  however Brosna stayed in touch with three points from the boot of Adam Barry and one from Tom McGoldrick.  Both teams would have been disappointed with some of their missed chances, with St Senans kicking a number of wides and Brosna missing three clear goal chances in the first half.  Two long range scores from Jason Browne and Paudie Quille ensured Senans went in leading by two at the break.  Half time score:    Brosna 0-04 St. Senans 0-06.

Brosna had a great start to the second half scoring three unanswered points, two from Tom McGoldrick and one from Kieran O’Donnell.  However, a great run from David Foran through the Brosna defence resulted in a very neat finish to the back of the net.  St Senans pushed on from here and looked well in control of the game leading by five points with 28 minutes played on the clock.  A Timmy Finnegan point brought the game back to a four point game, and then sub Patrick Moriarty, who was making his senior debut, turned the game on its head with a long range point, followed by a great goal.  Both teams fought hard for a winner, but it was Brosna’s Adam Barry who kicked the winner deep into stoppage time, following a great interception from Shane Fitzmaurice to see Brosna win.
