LISTOWEL EMMETS 1-13 KENMARE SHAMROCKS 2-09 2017-07-11 01:11:00

Listowel Emmets 1-13 Kenmare Shamrocks 2-9

Listowel Emmets made the journey home a sweeter one, having bagged two league points in Kenmare, with the home side unable to convert numerous late chances to get something from the game.  Listowel opened the scoring with a point from Noel Kennelly, but a Paul O’Connor goal had the home side ahead after five minutes, but Listowel kicked the next four points having enjoyed the advantage of a stiff breeze.  Dara O’Shea and David Hallissey kept the scoreboard ticking over for Kenmare, but when Conor Cox kicked his sixth point of the half in the twenty-eight minute, Listowel were four ahead.  Two injury time points by Kenmare had the home crowd happy, the half time score reading Kenmare 1-4, Listowel     0-9.

The start of the second half saw the same scoring pattern as the first, a Listowel point followed by a Kenmare goal, Brian O’Sullivan getting a vital touch to knock the ball into the Listowel net.  With the aid of the breeze in the second half, Kenmare pushed two ahead by the fortieth minute, Aidan Crowley adding his name to the Kenmare scorers.  The sides swopped points for the next ten minutes and with both sides turning over ball cheaply, Kenmare still had a two point lead.  Listowel then got their match winning score, a goal by Darragh Leahy, with eight minutes of normal time remaining.  Kenmare tried valiantly to get ahead again and even with four additional minutes of injury time played, they couldn’t peg back a hard working Listowel side.

Listowel Scorers; Conor Cox 0-9, Darragh Leahy 1-0, Noel Kennelly, John Heaphy, Jack McGuire and David Sheehy 0-1 each.

Kenmare Scorers:  Paul O’Connor 1-2, Brian O’Sullivan 1-1, Aidan Crowley and David Hallissey 0-2 each, Dara O’Shea and Kevin O’Sullivan 0-1 each.
