Waterville 0-13          Beaufort 1-07

The second round of this year’s County Senior Football League kicked off in very hot sunny conditions with a breeze.  Waterville played with the breeze in the first half and Stephen O’Dwyer opened the scoring with a free kick which Oran Clifford won.  In the second minute, Barry O’Dwyer scored a point with a lovely pass from Alan O’Shea.  In the third minute, there was another point from Stephen O’Dwyer from play, Waterville taking good advantage of the breeze in the first half.  After six minutes, Francis Courtney puts Beaufort on the board with a nice point from play.  In the tenth minute of the game, a great save by Seamus O’Sullivan and a great block afterwards by Fionan Clifford kept Waterville in the lead and from that play Waterville went up the field and a shot for goal by Kevin O’Dwyer was saved by Mike Moriarty, but all he could do is put it over the bar.  In the twelfth minute, another great save by Waterville keeper Seamus O’Shea kept Waterville in the lead.  In the fourteenth minute, Padraig O’Sullivan came on for Darragh Coffey.  After fifteen minutes had been played, Stephen O’Dwyer tapped over another free kick.  In the nineteenth minute, Francis Courtney kicked over another point from a free kick.  In the twenty first minute, Padraig O’Sullivan scored a point from play.  Stephen O’Dwyer got another score from a free kick.  In the twenty sixth minute Alan Shea got himself on the score sheet with a lovely point.  Beaufort went straight back down and won a free for Fergal Hallissey to put over.  In the last minute of the first half, Kevin O’Dwyer missed a good chance, but Jamie O’Sullivan gathered the rebound to win a free for Stephen O’Dwyer to tap over his fifth point of the game.  That score from Stephen O’Dwyer left Waterville up by four points: Waterville 0-08 to 0-04 Beaufort at half time.

In the thirty first minute, Sam O’Dwyer got the first score of the second half after nice play from Waterville which he tapped it over the bar.  In the thirty fifth minute Barry O’Dwyer with a nice run finished off with punch over the bar and Stephen O’Dwyer pointed from a free kick.  Another great save by Seamus O’Shea kept Waterville up by seven points. After an eight minute break with no score, good lead up play from Waterville led to a Barry O’Dwyer point.  Francis Courtney (a free)and Padraig O’Sullivan (2) added to Beaufort’s tally.

In the fifty second minute, Kevin O’Dwyer got a lovely point, followed by Francis Courtney’s fourth point for Beaufort.  In injury time, a goal from Shane O’Sullivan Beaufort made it a three point game.  Final score Waterville 0-13 to 1-07 Beaufort.  Waterville played very well, with great performances from Seamus O’Shea, Fionan Clifford, Barry O’Dwyer and Jamie O’Sullivan.
